A unique automated instrument providing
rapid and accurate freezing point of aviation
fuels within the range +5 to -65°C. A proven
and accepted equivalent to ASTM D2386
with no bias, and fully authorised to release
jet A1 Turbine Fuel.
A 5ml sample is progressively cooled using
electronic pettier devices thus avoiding the l
need for an external cooler.
A constant rate
oscillating flow is maintained across a mesh
filter, and as the temperature falls,
separated wax crystals cause an increase
in pressure which is sensed electronically.
Once a 'no flow' pressure is reached the
sample is heated until the flow point
temperature is reached.
An audible warning is
then given and the freezing point is
displayed.
Each test cycle takes only 10 to
15 minutes to complete, and the test
chamber is cleaned by simply flushing
through with sample.
The Point Detector allows simulation of
other filterability tests such as IP 219 Cloud
Point, IP 319 Cold Filter Plugging Point
(CFPP), and SFPP. Fuels with a viscosity
greater than 5cSt at -20°C will indicate a warmer (i.e.safe) result.
Requires mains power and supply of cooling water.
