This apparatus is used to test the dynamic workability of mortars as specified in EN 413 where it is an alternative method to the plunger apparatus. It can also be used to ensure the optimum proportioning of mortar constituents (sand, water, cement, as well as cement/sand and water/cement ratios) are compatible with the given application. It is suitable also for checking possible improvements when admixing a plastifier, or for comparing two mortar types.
The unit comprises a rectangular container (prismatic receiver) divided into two unequal compartments by a removable wedged shape partition together with an electric vibrator.
The fresh mortar is poured into the larger compartment and tamped with a 6 mm diameter rod (supplied), the separating partition is removed and the vibrator starts automatically. Mortar flows into the smaller container in a time which is a function of the cohesiveness (workability) of the mortar.
Mortar Workability Apparatus, as described complete with tamping rod, 200g x 6 mm diameter and separate power supply junction box (control console). Connection cables.
